Funding Model

Upstream Sending is committed to keeping costs low through simplifying systems and working hand-in-hand with the church. But we are also committed to continued innovation and providing quality service for the missionaries we employ and the churches we serve. To that end, our funding model balances keeping things simple and doing things well.

At Upstream Sending, we are thinking creatively about organizational funding. Our model introduces a unique approach where the local sending church, the missionary, the agency, and the larger missions community all share the load of funding the mission. In the coming years, we will be working “outside the box,” trying new ideas to generate revenue that helps cover costs, innovates new missions thinking, and decreases the cost to missionaries and the churches that send them.

*Foundation churches (churches that have given significant financial investment during the start-up phase) will never pay more than $300 in church monthly partner fees, no matter how many missionaries they send. They do not start paying until their foundation church commitment is completed.
**In an effort to make Upstream Sending more accessible to smaller churches and church plants, the church member fee is 50% of the normal amount for any church under 500 people.
